Uskovnica (Lom) - Viševnik (via source of Zlata voda)

Access to starting point:
From the Ljubljana - Jesenice motorway, take the Lesce exit and follow the road towards Bled and further towards Bohinjska Bistrica. Just before Bohinjska Bistrica, at the settlement of Bitnje, continue sharply right towards Pokljuka. After a short ascent, the road levels out and quickly takes us to the Upper Bohinj Valley. At the intersection here, continue left (right Pokljuka) and follow the road further to Srednja vas. Here in the second part of the village, notice the signs for Uskovnica (7 km), which direct us right onto a narrower, initially still asphalt road. Then follow this road, which ascends most of the time, to the "Lom" parking lot, where there is a sign prohibiting further driving (further driving permitted only for landowners).

Path description:
From the parking lot continue towards Koča na Uskovnici along the road, along which we quickly emerge from the forest, where we notice signs for cheese, milk and homemade products. Some 10 m further, a short path branches left from the road leading to the nearby sirarna pri Ulčnek, where during grazing season we can buy the aforementioned products, otherwise continue straight to the marked junction a few steps away, where we continue right towards Koča na Uskovnici. The path further first leads past a landmark (cross), then continues between pastures. When the pastures on the right end, a marked path from Srednja vas (path "Za Ribnico") joins from the right.
Continue straight, then past weekend houses arrive at a water trough and a few steps further to the place where signs for the already known hut direct us left onto a cart track. A short ascent on the cart track follows and the path takes us to Koča na Uskovnici.
From the hut continue towards Tosca, Draški vrh, Viševnik, Vodnikov dom, Rudno polje and Praprotnica along the path that first crosses the pasture fence, then quickly joins the macadam road which we follow right. The road then leads between hummocky meadows, then for crossing the next fence we quickly arrive at the junction or crossroads by the chapel of Mary Queen of Peace on Uskovnica.
At the chapel the path to Vodnikov dom continues left, right leads the path to Pokljuka, we continue straight towards planina Konjščica (also one of the paths by which we can arrive at Velo polje or Vodnikov dom). Continue the path between fenced pastures on a relatively steep cart track from which a nice view of the surrounding mountains opens. Higher the path, which takes us past some weekend cottages, levels out and we join a wider cart track leading from Pokljuka or from near the bridge over Ribnica (in descriptions starting point Uskovnica (Junction) towards planina Konjščica).
Somewhat further a nice view towards Viševnik opens, the cart track then ascends transversely for a while, mostly through forest. Higher we cross a pasture fence and the path takes us to the southwestern edge of planina Konjščica. Here the path, which was occasionally a bit steeper again, completely levels and leads us transversely across the pasture. During crossing we step over a few small streams, then behind a small cross cross a somewhat larger stream, behind it in a few steps reach the sirarna on planina Konjščica, where during grazing season it is possible to buy some dairy product.
Bypass the sirarna on the right and briefly continue on the marked path that begins descending towards Pokljuka (in descriptions starting point end of road on Pokljuka). When crossing the nearby stream where the marked path turns right, continue straight onto the unmarked path that begins ascending through the pastures of planina Konjščica.
When stepping out of the stream bed the trail temporarily disappears and levels. Across the pasture area continue east or slightly more right, all the way to where the trail becomes clearer. After crossing the torrent gully the trail becomes clearer and with nice views of the mountains surrounding planina Konjščica begins steeper ascent. Higher the path enters forest, then quickly takes us to the marked path Rudno polje - Triglav, which we reach right on some ridge.
Follow the marked path left downwards, but walk on it only to crossing the first torrent. At the torrent leave the marked path and continue ascent along the torrent, initially straight up. Soon notice traces of predecessors, a few steps higher spot a nice traceable trail (to here also possible via path branching from the aforementioned ridge into forest (start of mentioned trail not visible)). Here the trail crosses the stream right, then behind it slowly semicircularly turns left, leading us across meadow where trail not visible. When approaching the stream again spot trail again, it crosses the stream and on the other side begins transverse ascent. The path then climbs into a small valley where it disappears again. When the valley levels continue right, after a few meters spot trail again which is now clearer. From the place we left the valley walk only a minute or two, then along the path notice small cairn by which the path splits into two. Left path leads to saddle between Viševnik and Plesišče, the path continuing straight joins the marked path Rudno polje - Viševnik at Zlate vode.
Continue straight on the path which further transversely ascends the slopes of Plesišče. Higher reach the ridge of mentioned peak where briefly ascend along it, then path turns slightly right and passes to eastern slopes. A few minutes more transverse ascent, then step onto pasture where trail begins disappearing. Further walk in approx. same direction, where with luck arrive right at source of Zlata voda.
From source continue straight or slightly left, then in few minutes join marked path Rudno polje - Viševnik, reaching it at marked junction where path to Blejska koča na Lipanci and saddle between Plesišče and Viševnik branches. When reaching mentioned path continue left, then quickly climb to mentioned saddle from where nice view opens.
At mentioned saddle reach marked path Rudno polje - Viševnik, follow it left. Path ahead first moderately then steeper ascends through dwarf pine belt. Higher dwarf pines end and path takes us to mini pass from where nice view opens. Continue ascending steeper panoramic grassy slope, path then turns somewhat right and in transverse ascent takes us to ridge of Viševnik where even nicer view towards Rjavina and surrounding mountains opens. Path continues along and on ridge and further for a while only moderately ascends. After short traverse arrive below summit of Viševnik where path becomes quite steep (in winter often icy) and in few minutes takes us to panoramic summit.
