Uskovnica (Razpotje) - Ablanca (via planina Spodnji Tosc)

Access to starting point:
a) Leave the Gorenjska motorway at the Lesce exit, then follow signs for Bled and Pokljuka. Continue through Gorje and past the Zatrnik ski slope to Rudno polje on Pokljuka, where there is a large paid parking lot, nearby also a military barracks and shooting range. From here continue straight along the gravel road, which shortly brings us to a crossroads, where we continue left towards Uskovnica (right planina Konjščica). From here drive another good 500 m to the former parking lot above Uskovnica. This area is called Razpotje.
Parking is now prohibited at the mentioned parking lot, so park at Rudno polje, which extends the route by about 35 minutes, or choose the starting point Uskovnica (Lom).
b) From Železniki or Podbrdo drive to Bohinjska Bistrica, then continue towards Bled. Shortly after the Petrol gas station, located just beyond Bohinjska Bistrica, turn left towards Pokljuka and Jereka. The road first climbs steeply, then gradually flattens after Koriti and leads to a crossroads at the bus stop, where continue right towards Pokljuka, Koprivnik and Jereka (straight Srednja vas). Immediately after the crossroads we reach Jereka, from the crossroads in front of the church continue straight towards Pokljuka (left Podjelje). After Jereka the road climbs steeply again, higher it flattens and runs along the Mrzli potok stream. When joining the road from Bled go left and drive to Rudno polje, where there is a large paid parking lot, nearby also a military barracks and shooting range. From here continue straight along the gravel road, which shortly brings us to a crossroads, where we continue left towards Uskovnica (right planina Konjščica). From here drive another good 500 m to the former parking lot above Uskovnica. This area is called Razpotje.

Route description:
From the former parking lot at the crossroads, continue on the forest road closed to public traffic, which starts descending more steeply towards the gorge of the Ribnica stream. After a short descent, reach the mentioned gorge, over which a wide car bridge leads. The road flattens after the bridge and after a few minutes of further walking brings us out of the forest onto the vast meadows of Uskovnica.
Here walk to the nearby chapel, then continue slightly right on the road running right next to the mentioned chapel (left Koča na Uskovnici, right planina Konjščica).
The fairly level road leads further across the extensive meadows of Uskovnica, then to the edge of the forest, where it begins to change into a initially still wide cart track. The cart track, which further starts to ascend moderately, has some junctions, we follow it towards Vodnikov dom on Velem polju and Triglav. Higher, the cart track, mostly running through forest, changes into a footpath, which quickly brings us to a pleasant spring under Mesnova glava called Štapce. At the spring continue straight (right hunters' hut) and continue ascent on the gentle path, which shortly brings us to steep slopes. Soon after arriving at the steep slopes, fixed protections assist when crossing the steep gully. The path continues over relatively steep slopes, especially slippery when wet. During the crossing of steep slopes, the path several times ascends steeply for a short time and then descends again. In the last part of the crossing, cross several very steep gullies, over which the path is locally completely ruined (high slip risk). The crossing ends at a larger torrent (usually spring) after which we enter softer grassy terrain.
Followed by a few minutes of easy walking and the path brings us to the abandoned planina Spodnji Tosc. The path ahead starts ascending moderately and soon brings us to a small junction, where continue sharply right (straight old, partly abandoned path) on the well-followable path. The path ahead starts ascending ever more steeply and quickly brings us from the belt of sparse forest into scrub, where it starts turning increasingly left. The path soon levels and from scrub brings us to grassy slopes, over which in a few minutes of further walking we climb to the Pokljuka - Triglav path.
Follow the mentioned path right, which after a few steps brings us to the point where the path to Tosc branches left (junction to Tosc marked, path to it unmarked). Continue straight on the pleasant traverse path, which from Tosca slopes gradually passes to Veliki Draški vrh slopes. The scenic path then after some time brings us to the foot of Studorski preval, where it ascends more steeply for a short time. After five minutes of ascent step onto Studorski preval, where there is a marked junction.
At the pass, leaving markings, go right uphill on the little path (left Veliki Draški vrh, slightly left Srenjski preval, straight downhill Pokljuka). The path quickly brings us to scree terrain, where stones can be easily triggered, so caution. Follows an even steeper path bringing us to the ridge. Follow this path, quite dangerous for slipping (due to sliding sand on path) to the summit of Ablanca.
