Uskovnica (Razpotje) - Studorski preval (via Jezerca)

Access to starting point:
a) Leave the Gorenjska motorway at the Lesce exit, then follow signs for Bled and Pokljuka. Continue through Gorje past the Zatrnik ski slope to Rudno polje on Pokljuka, where there is a large paid parking lot; nearby there is also a military barracks and shooting range. From here continue straight along the gravel road, which shortly leads to a junction where we continue left towards Uskovnica (right Planina Konjščica). From here drive another good 500 m to the former parking lot above Uskovnica. This area is called Razpotje.
Parking is now prohibited at the mentioned parking lot, so we must park at Rudno polje, which extends the route by about 35 minutes, or choose the starting point Uskovnica (Lom).
b) From Železniki or Podbrdo drive to Bohinjska Bistrica, then continue towards Bled. Shortly after the Petrol filling station located just after Bohinjska Bistrica, continue left towards Pokljuka and Jereka. The road first climbs steeply, then gradually flattens after Koriti and leads to a junction at the bus stop, where we continue right towards Pokljuka, Koprivnik and Jereka (straight Srednja vas). Immediately after the junction we arrive in Jereka, but from the junction in front of the church continue straight towards Pokljuka (left Podjelje). After Jereka the road climbs steeply again, higher up it flattens and continues along the Mrzli potok stream. When joining the road from Bled, go left and drive to Rudno polje, where there is a large paid parking lot; nearby military barracks and shooting range. From here continue straight on the gravel road, which shortly leads to a junction where we continue left towards Uskovnica (right Planina Konjščica). From here drive another good 500 m to the former parking lot above Uskovnica. This area is called Razpotje.

Path description:
From the former parking lot at the junction, continue on the gravel road closed to public traffic towards Uskovnica. The road immediately descends quite steeply and quickly leads to the bridge over Ribnica (Ribnica is the stream separating Uskovnica from Pokljuka). After the bridge, the road turns sharply left, then gently descends crossing slopes above the right bank of Ribnica. A few tens of meters further, reach a small junction, continue sharply right towards Planina Konjščica (straight Uskovnica). The path ahead first ascends moderately along the pasture, then flattens completely for a few minutes. When the rougher road starts ascending again, the path from the chapel at Uskovnica joins from the left (junction unmarked), continue right.
Slightly further, a nice view opens towards Viševnik; the cart track then ascends transversely for a while, mostly through forest. Higher, cross a pasture fence and the path leads to the south-western edge of Planina Konjščica. Here the path, which was occasionally a bit steeper again, flattens out completely and leads transversely across the pasture. While crossing, step over several small streams, then after a small cross cross a somewhat larger stream; after it reach the dairy at Planina Konjščica in a few steps, where during the grazing season it is possible to buy some dairy products.
Before the dairy, continue slightly left towards Triglav and Vodnikov dom at Velem polju, on a path that gently ascends towards the northern part of the pasture. When the pasture ends, the path enters shrubbery surrounded by individual trees and begins to ascend moderately. With views of the surrounding mountains, quickly reach a marked junction where another marked path from Rudno polje joins from the right.
Continue slightly left towards Studorski preval and ascend somewhat more steeply for a few minutes. Higher up, the valley we are walking through narrows, then beside a torrent reach the grassy flat at Jezerca, where the next marked junction is.
Here go left (right Mali Draški vrh, Srenjski preval and Viševnik) and after a few steps the path leads into the core area of TNP. Further ascend beside a spring towards Studorski preval. Slightly higher cross the torrent, the path turns somewhat right onto grassy and shrub-covered slopes. The path then ascends transversely to Studorski preval, from which a nice view opens to the Bohinj side.
