Access to starting point:
We can reach Vače from two directions. From Ljubljana, we head towards Litija, where in Spodnji Hotič we turn left at the sign for Vače. A narrower road leads to Vače. When we arrive in the village, we can see a big wooden sign, which besides other paths also shows the direction towards Zasavska Sveta gora. A few meters higher, at the church, we can park.
Likewise, we can reach Vače from Zasavje, driving past Litija and then, just as above, turning right in Spodnji Hotič.
Path description:
In front of the church we can first look at the map of the path towards the summit. Then we turn on the road downwards and immediately to the left, out from Vače. First it is an asphalt road and it is accompanied by the GEOSS path, wooden sculptures and info tables. From the situla at the crossroad to which we come by road, we turn right ahead onto macadam. The path leads us all the time straight along the macadam road, past a meadow and a smaller quarry.
We continue all the time on the road, which then runs past the village of Vovče. At the end of the village there is an open meadow from which there is a nice view of Kum. We continue on the road and after a good hour of walking we reach a crossroad, where a poor sign on a tree (picture below) directs us left onto a smaller cart track, while the road continues ahead. Here we can choose either path. The left path leads around the hill and along the ridge to the start of the summit of Zasavska Sveta gora, the right one along the road past a few houses and then along a narrower path in the same direction. If we go left around the hill, we follow the cart track around the hill, then branch off onto a beaten path right along the ridge ahead. The path is varied, a little uphill, a little downhill. As I already mentioned, the right path is narrower most of the time, runs through the forest and then across open terrain (sand and rocks), but if there is no snow it is not dangerous. It is, however, shorter. After about half an hour both paths join and from there it is a little less than half an hour of walking. This part of the path is a bit steeper. The blazes and the cart track guide us. Below the summit we can go directly to the church (right) or directly to the hut (left). Both signposts indicate this. The path to the hut is narrow and quite dangerous in snow, the path to the church is steep. After less than five minutes you are already at the top.
The path is easy, suitable also for families; otherwise it takes two hours of walking, but most of the path is more or less flat. Poles are recommended only in the last part of the path, otherwise not needed.
