Velem - Irrotkő / Geschriebenstein (path blue plus)

Access to starting point:
To Hungary we come through the border crossing Dolga Vas / Redics, and then we drive in the direction of Szombathely / Mosonmagyarovar. When we come to town Szombathely we will continue in the direction of Kőszeg. In the village Lukácsháza we will notice a signpost for settlement Velem (in the time when this description was made, the sign was poorly visible). We drive also through the village Kőszegdoroslo and Kőszegszerdahely and we come to the settlement Velem.
A smaller parking lot in the village is at the spot, where there is also the beginning of the paths towards the summit. Because the peak is quite visited, the parking lot is often occupied. In this case, we park at the cemetery at the beginning of the settlement.

Path description:
From the starting point, we continue ahead and we quickly get to the turning point for buses, where there is the beginning of the path blue plus.
We continue right (left - red path), few steps still on asphalt, and then the path points us slightly downwards to a stream, by which we continue approximately 5 minutes. When we leave the stream, we return on the asphalt road, and at the first turn, we get to the forest, where the path becomes steep and continues on a forest cart track. The path ahead leads us past an interesting but unfortunately decaying cottage, and a little higher, the path turns left and becomes even steeper.
Further, we on stone stairs reach the church of St. Vitus, which is rising above the nearby villages.
Next follows some easy walking on a wider path, which brings us to the parking lot, and after the parking lot follows some easy descent through a thin forest. The path ahead again starts ascending and leads us through a dense spruce forest. Next follows few hairpin turns and we ascend on a ridge, where we get to the telecommunication building, after which we continue on the asphalt road which is slightly descending. We soon return on a cart track which brings us on the ridge and there we descend for approximately 100 altitude meters.
Lower, we reach a crossing, where joins the at the beginning mentioned red path and the path from the village Bozsok.
The path blue plus here ends, and further we follow red and blue signs, which past the feed site lead towards norhwest. We again start ascending steeper, and when we leave the forest we get to a resting place below the summit. From here follows only few steps and we get to the top, where there stands a built viewpoint, from which a view opens up on all sides.
