Vikrče - Grmada (on Kovačeva steza and over Sedlo)

Access to starting point:
A) From the highway Ljubljana - Jesenice we take the exit Ljubljana - Šmartno, and then continue driving towards Tacen. In Tacen just before the road over the bridge crosses the river Sava we continue slightly right in the direction of Pirniče. Only a little after Ljubljana ends, we arrive in Vikrče, and we follow the road to the inn Kovač, which is located right next to the bus stop. At the starting point there are no appropriate parking spots.
B) From Šentvid we drive to Tacen, there immediately after the bridge over the river Sava left towards Pirniče. Only a little after Ljubljana ends, we arrive in Vikrče, and we follow the road to the inn Kovač, which is located right next to the bus stop. C) From Medvode we drive to Zgornje and then to Spodnje Pirniče, and we follow the road towards Tacen. When we arrive in Vikrče, we join the road which leads from Smlednik towards Tacen, and here we continue right and follow the road to the nearby inn Kovač, which is the starting point of our path. At the starting point there are no appropriate parking spots.
D) We can also reach the starting point by LPP bus number 15.

Path description:
Behind the inn Kovač we continue right into the forest, where we immediately arrive at a junction of two marked paths. We choose the left path with signs Kovačeva steza (slightly right Westrova pot), which starts to ascend transversely to the left. After a short ascent, Učna pot branches off slightly to the left, and we continue slightly right along Kovačeva steza. Higher up the path flattens and turns somewhat to the left and then back right, where it gradually enters a smaller erosion gully. A short somewhat steeper ascent follows, then we step onto a cart track, where we continue left (right Grmada - path which joins Westrova pot).
A short traverse follows and the path brings us to a poorer road which leads towards the saddle Sedlo below the summit of Šmarna gora. Higher up the road brings us out of the forest onto panoramic slopes. With a view of the summit of Šmarna gora and the Kamnik Savinja Alps we quickly reach the homestead Gorjanc, from which a short walk follows to the marked junction Na Sedlu.
From the saddle we continue right downhill in the direction of Tacen (left Šmarna gora), and when the path enters the forest we continue right in the direction of Grmada. We continue the ascent on a somewhat steeper path, which first ascends through the forest and then transitions to a partly panoramic ridge, along which with a few tens of steps of further walking we ascend to the summit of Grmada.
