Vitovlje (Križišče) - Kopitnik (via Hunting cottage LD Lijak)

Access to starting point:
From the highway Vipava - Nova Gorica, we take the exit Selo and follow the road ahead in the direction of the villages Črniče and Šempas. When we come to the village Vitovlje, we pay attention, because in the middle of the settlement we will leave the main road and continue driving in the direction of the farm Maloščevo (the turn-off is marked). Further on, we drive through the village on a narrow and steep road, which higher up brings us to the signpost with the inscription »Vitovska krožna pot«. We continue left past the last houses on an increasingly steep road, which only a little higher changes into a macadam road, by which we then park (the most appropriate parking spot is between the fourth and fifth Station of the Cross).

Route description:
From the starting point, which is called Križišče, we continue on a rough macadam road, which already after a few minutes of walking brings us to a well-marked junction, where the marked path towards Trpinovišče, memorial plaque and Vodice branches off to the left. We continue on the right path, which past the Stations of the Cross brings us to the next well-marked junction near Vitovski vrh. We again continue right and follow the increasingly rough road, which here finally changes into a cart track, to the panoramic summit, on which a church stands.
From the top, we descend back to the junction, then continue the ascent in the direction of Čavna and Sekulaka on the old Napoleon path. Soon we come to the next junction, where we continue left, this time in the direction of the natural window Skozno and hunting cottage (right Krnica and Čaven, sharply right sv. Lucija).
From the junction ahead, we start to ascend diagonally towards the left, where the path first leads past an overhanging rock, a little further also past a smaller natural window. A few minutes higher, the path splits once again, and from the junction we continue right in the direction of the hunting cottage (straight Skozno). There follow a few minutes of moderate ascent, then the path ascends steeper for a short time and temporarily runs through more rocky terrain. The path quickly flattens, and from the left the path leading from the natural window Skozno towards Kopitnik joins us almost unnoticeably.
We continue right, still on the marked path, which a little further widens into a narrower cart track, and after the nearby marked junction we join a wide cart track, which we follow to the right. There follows some more ascent on the cart track, then it widens into a road at the hunting cottage LD Lijak, on which we quickly ascend to the paragliding take-off point on Kopitnik.
