Vuzenica - Koča pod Kremžarjevim vrhom (past Koča Planinc)

Access to starting point:
From the road Maribor - Dravograd, at the traffic light intersection we turn towards Vuzenica. Through Vuzenica we follow the main road, driving to the marked parking lot by the cemetery.

Path description:
From the parking lot, we continue along the road ahead, on it or on the sidewalk, and quickly reach the railway bridge, where a path first branches off to the left towards the cottage Planinc, and after the bridge over Cerkvenica, another path leads towards the cottage Koča pod Kremžarjevim vrhom.
We head onto the first path in the direction of the cottage Planinc and Mala Kopa, where we initially walk on the sidewalk. After a short ascent, we reach a crossroad, where we turn right and continue along the path on Pohorska cesta. For some time, we walk past houses, and upon reaching the settlement Sveti Primož na Pohorju, we soon turn right onto a side road marked with signs for the cottage Planinc. Next follows a short diagonal ascent, and before some houses, we turn slightly left onto a cart track that leads us into the forest. We encounter several crossings, where we carefully follow the blazes, and upon leaving the forest, we continue along the edge of a meadow, then ascend through the meadow to an asphalt road, where we turn left downwards.
We descend along the road to a nearby crossroad, from which we turn slightly right onto a macadam road that crosses a scenic meadow, offering a beautiful view of the nearby hill where the church of St. Anton stands. The road along the edge of the forest turns sharply to the right, but we continue straight on a cart track that proceeds through the forest in roughly the same direction. In the forest, we also turn sharply right, then shortly after back to the left, continuing to ascend diagonally to the left. We encounter a few more crossings, and higher up, we reach a poorer road, bypassing a nearby house on the right side. The path leads us past a chapel, and we begin to descend diagonally along the slopes of Primoški vrh. Upon leaving the forest, we reach an asphalt road at the NOB monument, and in a minute of further walking, we ascend to the church of St. Primož.
We bypass the church on the right side and continue along a marked road that leads past a few houses, then turn slightly left behind the houses onto a cart track that continues through the forest. After a few minutes, we return to the road, reaching it by a chapel and a crossroad.
We continue straight between two roads onto a grassy path marked with signs for the cottage Planinc. We continue briefly through a meadow, then the path enters the forest, where we ascend somewhat more steeply. Upon leaving the forest, we pass a few houses, following the blazes, and above the houses, we ascend diagonally to the right. A little further, the path turns sharply left and quickly leads to a macadam road, along which we continue with beautiful views of Pohorje. After some more traversing, we pass a chapel and reach the farm Sedovnik, where we continue straight through a meadow behind the yard. At the top of the meadow, the path enters the forest, and we follow the blazes. When the path flattens, we bypass Sedovnikov vrh, a few dozen strides away, on the left side.
From here, an easy descent leads to an asphalt road, which we cross diagonally to the left.
We continue towards the cottage, with the path leading past an NOB monument and a bench; above the monument, the path turns left and briefly runs parallel to the road. Next follows a relatively short ascent and we arrive at a crossing, where we go right in the direction of Koča pod Kremžarjevim vrhom cottage (left Koča Planinc cottage 3 minutes).
From the crossing, we traverse the slopes to the right, and a few minutes later, we veer slightly left uphill from the cart track onto a marked footpath that continues in the same direction. A few minutes later, we reach another cart track, along which we ascend more noticeably for a short time. This is followed by some more traversing, and at the crossings, we follow the blazes. Over time, we first approach a macadam road, and a little further, we reach it at a marked crossing on saddle Brneško sedlo.
We continue along the road in the direction of Koča pod Kremžarjevim vrhom cottage (left footpath towards Grmovškov dom pod Veliko Kopo cottage, sharply right Vuzenica) and then traverse the slopes of Mačkov vrh. After a few minutes of traversing, we reach another saddle and crossroad, and we continue across the road onto a marked cart track that ascends, and after a few steps, we turn left onto a marked footpath. This is followed by a shorter, steeper ascent, and from the left, a marked path from Šmartno pri Slovenj Gradcu joins us.
Here, we veer slightly right and begin ascending along the edge of the forest, with beautiful views opening up on the left side. Next follows some traversing, where we mostly ascend moderately, and then we arrive at a crossing below Kremžarjev vrh.
We continue straight on the lower path (right uphill to Kremžarjev vrh and Koča pod Kremžarjevim vrhom cottage via Kremžarjev vrh) and after a further short traverse, we enter the forest. A little further, at the chapel, we merge with the path that leads over the peak and with the direct path from Vuzenica.
From the chapel, we follow the signs for Koča pod Kremžarjevim vrhom cottage, which we reach after a few minutes of easy walking.
