Access to starting point:
Xyloskalo is situated in the prefecture of Chania (Hania) on Crete in Greece. A paved road leads to it through Omalos. On the road, follow the signs for "Gorge of Samaria".
Path description:
The Samaria Gorge is one of the most visited destinations on Crete.
The route is well maintained, marked, with drinking water and toilets at regular intervals.
On the trail you lose 1230 meters in elevation difference. Most of this difference is made right away in the first part of the trail to Ag. Nikolaos (700 meters elevation difference).
The hike has 10 main points. The distances between them are (source: official leaflet received upon entry to the park):

9. Christos (3,1 km / 70 min)
10. Agia Roumeli (1,8 km / 45 min)
