Zadnja Trenta (Flori) - Vršac (above Zadnja Trenta)

Access to starting point:
From Kranjska Gora, drive over Vršič Pass towards Bovec or vice versa, but only to the 49th hairpin bend of the Vršič road (near the village of Trenta). Here, turn onto the side road towards the source of the Soča River. After a short ascent, the road quickly leads to the parking lot in front of the Koča pri izviru Soče hut, but we continue left over the bridge and follow the road to the parking lot at the end of the road (near the parking lot, notice the mountain signs for Bavški Grintavec, the waterfalls of Suhega potoka, and Jalovec).

Route description:
From the parking lot, head right onto the footpath towards Jalovec and the shelter below Špička (the left path leads to Bavški Grintavec). The path, from which a nice view of the aforementioned Bavški Grintavec opens at the beginning, quickly enters dense forest, where it begins to ascend steeply. The steep path, which runs through the forest almost the entire time, brings us after about an hour and a half of walking to a junction, where we continue on the left path towards Zavetišče pod Špičkom (right to Vršič, Jalovec, Mali kot and Jalovška škrbina, both paths are marked). The path ahead levels out slightly for a while, then resumes steep ascent, this time through occasionally sparser forest. Higher up, the forest becomes even sparser and beautiful views of the surrounding peaks begin to open from the path. A little further, we reach a less noticeable junction, where a marked but little-used path to Bavški Grintavec branches left (path over Konj).
Turn left onto the mentioned path (straight to Zavetišče pod Špičkom) and traverse the slopes towards the southwest. Here the path mostly runs along scree and sparse larches. For a short time, the path turns slightly right, crossing a shorter steep slope. The poorly trodden path then traverses the slopes again, and ahead we can clearly see the ridge of peaks from Vršac to Veliki Pelc. The path then descends slightly and leads towards the wide gully on the left side of Vršac. Upon entering the mentioned gully, we begin to ascend more steeply again. Initially the path runs on the right side, then follows the ascent on the left side of the gully, which is grassy. Higher, as we approach the steep rocky slopes, the path turns decisively left. Follows ascent through a slightly overgrown gully, then the path turns left and begins ascending steep and exposed terrain. The path here is very poorly trodden and overgrown with grass and other vegetation, so it is particularly dangerous for slipping when wet. The path is also not secured, so extra caution is needed.
This path brings us to less steep grassy slopes on the southeast side of Vršac. Here we leave the marked path and head slightly right towards the slopes of Vršac. The marked path is actually very poorly visible here and runs slightly left, later beginning to descend.
Continuing, we ascend the grassy slope on the S-SE side of the mountain. All the time ascending the grassy slope and choosing less steep passages. Higher, on a short section, the grassy slope becomes very steep and particularly dangerous for slipping when wet. The steepness then eases and soon we reach the main ridge of the mountain. Continue along the grassy ridge, which is somewhat exposed but wide enough that the ascent causes no major difficulties. Along such a ridge we soon reach the panoramic summit.
Descent can be by the ascent path or by a slightly easier variant, continuing along the ridge to a small saddle and then descending left towards the Srednjica cirque. Through scree, return to the grassy slopes below Vršac. It is recommended to return to the marked path approximately at the place where we left it on the ascent. Lower in the southwest direction, the slopes are steeper.
