Zadnjica - Glava v Zaplanji (via Plemenice)

Access to starting point:
From Kranjska Gora, drive over Vršič Pass towards Bovec or vice versa, but only to the 50th hairpin turn of the Vršič or Russian road (near the village of Trenta). Here turn onto the side road, along which after a few hundred meters park at the roadside parking lot.

Path description:
From the paid parking lot in Zadnjica valley, continue on the marked trail, initially along the road towards Pogačnikov dom na Kriških podih, Razor, Stenar, Križ, Bovški Gamsovec, Luknja, Triglav, Koča na Doliču and Kanjavec. The path first leads past a few houses or cottages and after about 15 minutes of walking arrives at a marked junction where there used to be free parking, but now parking is prohibited.
Continue on the slightly right lower road towards Zasavska koča na Prehodavcih, Koča na Doliču, Luknja and other nearby objectives (left Pogačnikov dom na Kriških podih and other goals above Kriških podih and lower station of the cargo cableway to Kriških podih), where the gentle road leads across scenic meadows, higher through forest. Just before the end of the forest road at Planja junction or before the valley head in the area named Utro, a marked path branches right towards Prehodavci.
Continue straight on the road, which soon becomes a footpath or old military mule track, along which we ascend mostly moderately on gradually steeper slopes. Still in the forest, the climbing path via Komar branches right, we continue on the mule track which ascends in numerous hairpins, and due to steep slopes above, parts of the path are exposed to falling rocks.
The fairly panoramic path brings us at approx. 1500 m elevation to the next junction where the path to Koča na Doliču branches right, we continue straight towards Luknja, Pogačnikov dom na Kriških podih and Triglav via Plemenice.
Continuing ascent on the mule track leading above Koriti, we follow the path still partially exposed to falling rocks to the marked junction at Luknja, where we join the path from Vrata valley start and gain a nice view to the other side.
From Luknja head right towards Triglav (left Bovški Gamsovec and Pogačnikov dom, straight down Aljažev dom in Vrata).
The path now becomes very demanding and starts with nearly vertical ascent secured by cable. After climbing the initial wall the path flattens slightly but difficulties are not over. From here almost no protection and occasionally trail above deep drop. In wet high slip risk! Difficulties gradually ease, path turns slightly left to the ridge with view eastwards. Continue on panoramic ridge where path soon gets demanding again. With cable and numerous pegs steep ascents a few times, then short steep descent. Here left view to famous Sphinx (steepest Triglav pillar).
Further the path eases and leads over scree terrain. Trail less visible here, runs left of Glava v Zaplanji and Triglavska vojašnica Viktorja Emanuela III. (formerly wrongly named Morbegna), visible ahead. Even in summer possible snow patches here but not steep, so ice axe usually not needed.
Path leads to junction on Western Triglav Plateau.
Here continue right (left Triglav, slightly right Dolič) on unmarked path which after further 10 min walking reaches vojašnica Viktorja Emanuela III. (sometimes wrongly named Morbegna).
From vojašnica Viktorja Emanuela III. to summit of Glava v Zaplanji only a few minutes ascent on the summit slope.
