Access to starting point:
From Bovec, we drive through the Trenta Valley to the settlement of Trenta. After the center of the settlement, the road descends to the bridge over Krajcarca and after 350 meters reaches the first (last from the direction of Kranjska Gora) hairpin turn of the Vršič road. At this sharp left turn, a macadam road branches off to the right into the Zadnjica Valley (left from the direction of Kranjska Gora), which after 150 meters brings us to a marked parking lot.
Route description:
From the parking lot, we continue on the road, which past a few houses (mainly holiday cottages) in approximately 15 minutes brings us to the spot where one road branches off left upwards (at the crossroads there used to be a parking lot, today parking is forbidden).
We continue straight on the road (via the upper road we arrive at the lower station of the cargo cableway and the start of the mule track that leads to Pogačnikov dom) in the direction of Dolič, Luknja and Prehodavci. First along a gently sloping road that leads us across panoramic meadows, higher through the forest, we follow it to its end, where it narrows into a mule track and brings us to the bridge over Zadnjica (altitude 1000m, to here we need approximately 1 hour). Here to our left a view opens towards the pass Luknja, above us (towards the south) Kanjavec towers with its mighty wall, a little to the right is the view of Zadnjiški Dol, along which the path winds to Prehodavci. At this spot is the last opportunity to get fresh water.
We continue the ascent on the mule track, which first ascends through the forest, higher in numerous switchbacks overcomes steeper slopes and is directed towards Luknja. At altitude around 1500m we come to a junction, where our mule track turns right (direction Dolič), straight ahead the path branches off towards Luknja. The mule track carved into the rock continues to wind above the precipitous slope and the higher we are, the more interesting are the views of the numerous traversed serpentines below us and the grassy slopes of Pihavec opposite us. A little higher the path crosses a wide debris-filled gully, making a sharp turn right to the other side of the gully (this gully is the outlet of the valley directed up towards Zaplanja and along which we will walk later, for now we continue on the mule track), where in switchbacks a little higher up it continues through larch forest. When the mule track levels out a bit (directed towards the south), pay attention on the left to some stone steps that direct us from the mule track left upwards towards the ruins of the former Italian post Gemona. It is located a short distance above us and from the mule track, if we go a couple of steps further, is clearly visible. Here, at altitude around 1780m, is the start of Kugyjeva pot. From the ruins of Gemona onwards we cross several scree slopes on the steep flank of Zelenice, on which the path trace occasionally disappears. When crossing the screes, keep the altitude or ascend slightly. Further on, the path below the steep slopes of Zelenice is again better trodden. At altitude around 2000m from below Zelenice we head left towards the north, in order to cross the valley. Here the path is harder to follow, but the terrain is easily passable, grass predominates. Soon above us we spot a large scree and the valley headwall. Actually there are two headwalls. The right one, more pronounced and narrower, and the left one, right above us. Both headwalls are connected by a large scree, with which we orient ourselves further. It is important to head along the left edge (looking uphill) of the scree. Just right of the left edge of the scree we can notice a slightly vegetated strip of grass. This will bring us after approximately 100 meters to the key point of Kugyjeva pot, that is to the old fixed cables, which represent the easiest passage from this valley to the ridge of Plemenice, where the marked path runs. The passage over the rocky edge is easiest here. Three pitches of cables, although old, are still attached to the rock, but do not give a sense of reliability. Fortunately, the terrain itself is not so exposed that they would be urgently needed. Further on, the path is again better traceable and trodden. In a few minutes the path brings us to scenic steep grassy terrains, and then to the very precipitous edge above Korita. From the grassy edge we look straight down to Luknja. From here the trail continues along the grassy ridge (direction NE) still less than 200m as the crow flies, then turns right towards the east, where we walk on the flat high-mountain karst. The path brings us after 300m to the marked path that goes from Luknja to Triglav. A couple more minutes along the marked path and we can already from the edge of the North Triglav Wall up close admire the famous Sfinga. From here onwards we follow the markers, which via the western Triglav plateau and Triglavska škrbina lead to the summit of Triglav.
The difficulty of the description refers to the unmarked section of the path between the mule track to Dolič and the secured path via Plemenice (condition September 2020). Due to locally poor path visibility, in places even pathless terrain, I advise against the path in fog due to difficult orientation. I also advise against descent in wet weather due to locally steep grassy sections.

Once it was probably marked - signposted.

Well described path, which is mentioned in Brilej's Hiker's Handbook from 1951 as poorly marked.mežikanje

It is also described in Rudolf Badjura's mountaineering guide "Na Triglav", published in 1913. At that time the path was certainly more "fresh" and well marked. Kugy would surely like it better as it is today, when nature is changing it back to its original form.

The most beautiful path to Triglav. Solitary. Pristine. I go every year, the first time I missed the fixed cables, there was no description yet. If you walk slowly and very carefully, you can follow the faded markers almost the whole time, I counted at least 30 on the last visit. I hope the path remains like this in the future.

Great for this description, the path is also drawn in Locus map, but I don't know how demanding it is to dare to go on it.

Simon, I agree. It attracted me when I observed this greenish valley from Log in Trenta, along which the path runs, which really gives the impression of some natural passage towards the top of Triglav. It's peaceful on this path even at peak season. You really wish to meet someonenasmeh.
