Access to starting point:
From the Ljubljana - Koper motorway we take the Kozina exit and continue on the road towards Rijeka. We drive to the settlement Obrov, where signs for Golac direct us right onto a narrower road. This is followed by a 4 km drive to the settlement Golac, from where we continue following signs for the settlement Zagrad, which is a little more than 1 km away. There are no designated parking spaces in Zagrad, but it is possible to park on some widening on the outskirts of the settlement.
It is more advisable to park already in Golac, which extends the walk by approximately 15 minutes.
Route description:
From the marked junction in the settlement Zagrad we continue on the right road, along which there are signs for Velika vrata, Slavnik and Mala and Velika Plešivica (left Ostrič). The path initially leads us past a few houses, then we ascend transversely into the forest, where the poorer road makes some switchbacks, and we follow it up to a turning area (there are still some parking possibilities along the road, but the road is quite poor), where the markings lead us left onto a clearing, from where we continue uphill along the cart track. The ascent continues first on the western slopes of the peak Čičer, and higher up on the north-western slopes we reach a marked junction.
From the junction we go left towards Razsušica and Medvižica (right Mala and Velika Plešivica and Slavnik) and continue the transverse ascent through the forest.
Further on the path is well marked, but becomes steeper, and we follow it up to the summit of Razsušice, from where we get a nice view of the neighbouring Medvižica.
From Razsušica we continue left downhill and begin a steep descent towards the east; lower down the path levels out and continues with a few shorter ascents and descents, leading us to a clearing where from the marked junction we go left towards Medvižica (the right path leads towards Ostrič and Zagrad).
Immediately after the junction the path returns to the forest and leads us to a rocky section, where it turns left and begins a steep ascent over the rocky slope. We then follow this path, which is surrounded by numerous cracks, to the scenic summit of Medvižica.

Zagrad - junction Kičer 0:45, junction Kičer - Razsušica 0:30, Razsušica - junction below Medvižica 0:20, junction below Medvižica - Medvižica 0:10.

Discussion about the trip Zagrad - Medvižica (via Razsušica)
squash1. 11. 2013
Today my wife and I did this trip. The weather was beautiful. From Medvižica there was a fantastic view in all directions. You could beautifully see the Brkini villages, Učka to the south and on the other side the Trieste Gulf. Čičarija is the right place to relax the soul, the landscape is beautiful. Due to its remoteness there are few people, you rarely meet any hikers.
