Access to starting point:
We drive to Murska Sobota, then continue driving towards the border crossing Hodoš. In Gornji Petrovci, from a somewhat larger intersection, we continue left in the direction of the settlements Kuzma and Martinje. When we arrive in Šulinci, at the village fire station we leave the main road, which turns right, and continue straight on the side road, which bypasses the fire station on the left side. When Šulinci end, we soon arrive at the Balon memorial, and we drive approximately 50 m further to the marked parking lot, where we park.
Route description:
From the parking lot, we continue on the asphalt road in the direction of the village Boreča; we leave the main road after a few minutes, when signs for Martinje and the holiday house direct us right onto a side road. We continue on a narrower asphalt road, which after the holiday house loses its asphalt surface, then continue along the edge of the forest, where we pass another house. The path ahead partly leads through the forest, partly along the edge of meadows, and rises barely noticeably.
After approximately 35 minutes of walking, we arrive at a junction, where we continue straight on the unmarked poorer road (to the left, a marked path continues towards Tromejnik and another path to Srebrni breg), which ascends more steeply and brings us in a few minutes to a hamlet of a few houses, where the road becomes asphalt again. A shorter ascent follows, and we arrive at the chapel of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary in Martinje, which is located a few steps to the left off the path, and from which a beautiful view opens up.
From the chapel, we continue on the road, which also leads past the fire station, then in a gentle ascent with beautiful views reaching all the way to the Alps, we arrive at the main road, which we follow to the left. We continue along the main road, which for some time still runs through a panoramic section, then the view is limited to the nearby forest, and we arrive at an intersection, where the road to Hungary branches off to the right, while we continue straight towards Kuzma and Grad. We walk along the main road only a short time longer, then before the nearby house continue left onto a cart track, along which we arrive at Srebrni breg in a few minutes.
