Zgornje Poljčane - Ljubična gora (po Jakobovi poti)

Access to starting point:
a) From the Ljubljana - Maribor motorway we take the exit Slovenske Konjice, then follow the signs for Žiče, in Žiče we turn left towards Poljčane. We continue through Loče, Zbelovo to Poljčane, where we turn right and cross the Dravinja river, then we arrive in Zgornje Poljčane, where we turn left towards the cemetery, where we park.
b) From the Maribor - Ljubljana motorway we head to the exit Slovenska Bistrica jug, then follow the signs for Poljčane and Rogaška Slatina. After Poljane we also cross the Dravinja river, then we arrive in Zgornje Poljčane, where we turn left towards the cemetery, where we park.

Route description:
From the cemetery we walk to the main road, where at Prvomajski trg we carefully cross the road at the pedestrian crossing and head onto Rimska ulica, along which there are signs for the Way of St. James. We then start ascending between houses, at a smaller intersection we turn left onto the road indicated by the shell, the symbol of the Way of St. James. Higher up we continue past a few houses, from the scenic grassy area a beautiful view of Zgornje Poljčane opens up.
Above the settlement the road becomes gravel and levels out, leading us in the immediate vicinity of Kamnolom Poljčane. For some time we walk only a few dozen steps to the right of the fenced quarry area, then the path enters dense forest, where we descend to an asphalt road.
We follow the asphalt road briefly left uphill, then the signs for the Way of St. James direct us right onto a track. This continues through the forest transversely to the right, where after a few minutes it joins the usual path marked with Knafelč markings.
Here we go left, cross the wooded slopes of Zalonč (523 m), later we begin to descend moderately. Lower down we leave the forest and continue across a scenic meadow to the point where a marked but unmarked path to Rančka branches sharply left. We continue straight to the marked junction, where we reach an asphalt road.
We continue the ascent on the asphalt road, which takes us past two weekend houses in a few minutes to the Church of Our Lady of the Scapular, from where a beautiful view opens up. From the church we can continue left and quickly ascend to the forested summit of Ljubična gora.
