Žiri - Javorč

Access to starting point:
A) First, we drive to Škofja Loka, and then we continue driving towards Gorenja vas and Žiri. At the beginning of Žiri we turn left onto Dobračevska ulica, which a little further passes into Kosovelova ulica and into ulica Pod griči. At the intersection of ulica Pod griči and Jezerska ulica we turn left towards the nearby transformer station, where the path to Javorč begins. At the starting point, there are no appropriate parking spots.
B) From the highway Ljubljana - Koper we take the exit Vrhnika, then, once we reach the old road, we continue left towards Logatec, but we drive along it only to the first intersection, from where we continue driving right towards Horjul and Stara Vrhnika. For some time we drive on the main road towards Horjul, then we turn slightly left in the direction of the village Smrečje. After the village Podlipa the road starts to ascend more steeply, and during the ascent the road from Horjul also joins from the right. We continue straight and a little further we arrive in Smrečje, from where we continue driving on the main road towards Žiri. The road then starts descending through Račeva dolina, where in its lower part we notice the ski jumps of the nearby Nordic center Žiri. A little further we arrive at the edge of the town Žiri, where the road splits into two parts. The main road turns slightly to the left, and we continue slightly right onto ulica pod Griči, which we follow to the intersection with Jezerska ulica, where we turn right towards the nearby transformer station. At the starting point, there are no appropriate parking spots.
C) From the highway Ljubljana - Koper we take the exit Logatec, then we continue driving in the direction of Rovt and Žiri. We continue driving on a quite winding road, which we follow to Žiri, and there in the town center we turn right onto Jezerska ulica, which we follow all the way to the transformer station, which is located on the edge of the town. At the starting point, there are no appropriate parking spots.

Path description:
In front of the transformer station we continue slightly right onto a cart track, which initially ascends gently along a mesh fence. The fence ends quickly, and the cart track starts to ascend moderately on a panoramic grassy slope. At first a quite nice view opens up on the Žirovska kotlina basin and the hills that surround it, then the moderately steep, well-beaten but unmarked path gradually passes into initially still sparse forest. The path along which we walk, in the first part runs along a trim trail, so next to it we notice some requisites for exercises. A little higher we leave the trim trail and continue the ascent on a well-beaten cart track. Although the path is not marked and splits several times into more parts, there are no major problems with orientation, as the paths leading uphill quickly join again. Higher, the path, which partly runs along an indistinct forested ridge, passes onto a panoramic grassy slope, from which a nice view opens up on Škofjeloško hribovje. On the upper part of the grassy slope we notice a smaller weekend cottage, which we bypass on the right side. Here the path returns to the forest, and along the path we notice the first blazes.
We continue along the forested ridge, on the path which leads us past the bunker of the former Rapallo border. A few minutes higher, the path flattens and brings us out of the forest onto a larger clearing, across which we quickly walk to the stamping box on Javorč.
From the stamping box we can continue slightly left to the nearby road, along which we quickly arrive at the hunting lodge, which is usually open on weekends.
