Becherhaus

Description of mountain hut:
Becherhaus (Rifugio Bicchiere; in Italy known also as Rifugio Gino Biasi) is of the highest situated mountain huts in Eastern Alps. It's located on a panoramic hill Becherfelsen, which concludes a narrow ridge, which towards the south is falling from the eastern secondary peak of Wilder Freiger, Signalgipfel, and is quite imposingly rising above extensive glacier Übeltalferner. The original construction of today's mountain hut was under the name Kaiserin-Elizabeth-Schutzhaus built already in the year 1894.
Becherhaus, which is otherwise supplied by Italian mountaineering club, together with nearby Austrian Müller Hütte forms a pair of high mountain huts, which with its central position offer relatively easy access on peaks of main group of the mountain range Hochstubai, especially Wilder Freiger (3418 meters), Sonklarspitze (3467 meters) and Botzer (3250 meters); mountain huts are also starting points for demanding, but alluring eastern ascents on Wilder Pfaff (3456 meters) and Zuckerhütl (3507 meters), the highest peak of Stubai Alps.
Mountain hut isn't very easily accessible; the easiest and fastest access is from Italian valley Ridnauntal, which is still long and indirect. From Austria we can get to the hut most directly on the path which is crossing only a little below the summit of Wilder Freiger; so majority of the visitors, who get to the hut from Austria, also go on famous Wilder Freiger.
