Description of mountain:
Dikeos (846 m) is the highest mountain on Kos Island, the third-largest island in the Dodecanese in the southeastern Aegean Sea in Greece (after Rhodes and Karpathos).
The Greek name and markings on the path to the summit appear as Δίκαιος.
From the summit, views extend far—to the Turkish coast and Bodrum city in the northeast, and islands to the northwest: Pserimos (around 100 residents in summer), Plati (one inhabitant), and Kalymnos (world-renowned for its sponge-diving history).
Below the summit, a Greek flag flutters in the constant wind that makes even summer temperatures bearable; a little lower stands a lit cross visible at night from Zia village, while the summit ridge also features a shelter and chapel.
Locals celebrate August 6 with group hikes to the peak.
