Description of mountain:
Pokljuka Gorge, also Ribščica Gorge, is a 1.5 km long gorge at the eastern foot of the alpine Pokljuka plateau above the Radovna Valley in TNP. The gorge is dry, but in the lower part the Ribščica stream (a Radovna tributary) appears, which during the last ice age drained water from the Pokljuka Glacier and carved the limestone up to 50 m deep. The central part has numerous fossil remains and natural bridges; in the narrowest impassable section, an 800 m tourist path (wooden bridges in the partisan passage named Galerije kraljeviča Andreja) was built as early as 1930. Among the gorge's attractions is Pokljuška luknja (a rock cavity with two entrances and three natural windows, where Primož Trubar supposedly hid during his escape to Germany; a path leads through the hole to Stara Pokljuka) and Stranska soteska, filled during rainy periods by a 22 m high waterfall.
