Description of mountain:
San Pietro is a mountain with very bad memories for Slovenes, as in 1981 a plane with 180 passengers and crew hit the very summit with its left wing, and none survived. All descriptions noted the approach as long and poorly marked, perhaps from the valley itself, but the path from the Col de Saint-Eustache pass along road D420, where there is an arranged parking lot, is not; from there a wide, trodden and extremely well-marked trail leads both to the summit and to the crash site a few minutes away. As it seems, the summit itself is not interesting to Corsicans, but many head to the mentioned site, where there is a neatly placed imitation of a little church, a memorial plaque, a summit register book and a detailed description of the French version of the accident. From the pass to the crash site it is about an hour of easy walking; on the return, part of the path can be walked on a slightly different trail where there is also shade, as there is none on the ascent, as it appeared the entire slope burned a few years ago.
