Jbel Toubkal is located in the Atlas Mountains and is Morocco's highest peak at 4,167 m, also the highest in North Africa; it was first ascended in 1923. A distinctive metal frame in the shape of a pyramid stands on the summit. It is 63 km from Marrakech.
