Description of mountain:
Watzmann Hocheck is a 2,651 m high peak on the western ridge of the Watzmann massif. Watzmann is Germany's third-highest mountain or the highest entirely on German soil. The three main peaks on the western ridge (from north to south) are: Hocheck (2,651 m), Mittelspitze (2,713 m), and Südspitze (2,712 m). The massif also includes the 2,307 m high Watzmannfrau (or Kleiner Watzmann) and the Watzmannkinder, five lower peaks between the main ridge and Watzmannfrau. The entire massif lies in the Eastern Bavarian Alps, south of Berchtesgaden near Austrian Salzburg, and is part of Berchtesgaden National Park. The first to summit the highest peak (Mittelspitze, in 1800) was Slovenian priest and passionate alpinist Valentin Stanič.
