500€ fine for improper parking
5.06.2011
Visitors complain about the lack of organized parking lots in the Krma and Radovna areas and threats of high fines for improper parking.
Three parking lots are organized
No one has complained to the supervisor, but it is true that last weekend he issued four written and six verbal warnings for improper parking, explained Tine Štular from Triglav National Park (TNP). “In the Krma area, three parking lots are organized; otherwise, throughout the entire park area, the law prohibits driving, stopping, and parking with motor vehicles; for violators, a fine of between 500 and 3,000 euros is provided. Outside parking lots or designated places, parking is prohibited, and supervisors tolerate parking where they do not expect consequences for nature,” added Štular.
Use of roads can be restricted
Supervisors issued 43 payment orders last year and issued as many as 1,449 warnings, of which more than 30 percent were due to driving in the natural environment.
The TNP Act otherwise provides that the manager can restrict the use of state or municipal roads due to endangerment or excessive load on the national park. As explained in the park, they are striving for appropriate solutions that would be favorable both for nature conservation and visitors.
