Bear Again in Switzerland
10.06.2007
After bears disappeared from Switzerland a hundred years ago, a bear has recently reappeared in the country.
Swiss hunting inspector Georg Brosi reported that several people sighted an adult bear not far from the national park in the Grisons region.
Experts believe the bear came from northern Italy, where the population of this animal has been steadily increasing since the reintroduction project.
This is an adult bear, not a young one that appeared in the same area in Switzerland in 2005, for example. After two months, during which it killed some sheep, it disappeared.
