Camera with a view of the Triglav Glacier
31.12.2014
Dear mountain enthusiasts and other users of high-altitude cameras,
after more than a year and a half of testing period, we have reached the point where mostly everything is ready for the public release of images from our camera at Kredarica. The webcam is part of the Triglav Glacier monitoring project and is attached to the annex of the Triglav Lodge at Kredarica (2515 m). The field of view allows, in addition to the view of the narrower area of the Triglav Glacier, also a view from the east towards the summit of Triglav (2864 m) and to the nearby Glava (2426 m), north below the highest Slovenian peak.
Access to the webcam is at the URL address
http://ktl.zrc-sazu.si/.
At night, we do not record photographs; in addition to the last available one, which loads upon visiting the website (images are usually refreshed every 10 minutes), an image archive is also available, which is in the process of being supplemented. This means that over time you will be able to view even more images. The camera's operation may occasionally be disrupted. Any image you load always has the date and time of the recording noted at its bottom edge according to local time and time zone. Pay special attention to this when monitoring current weather/snow/light conditions.
A few short explanations - in the strip along the left edge of the screen, you can view a slightly larger recent image by clicking on the thumbnail, and some data about the project, its purpose and conditions of use of images, as well as information for properly citing the source in case of further use or forwarding, are also available. We will also welcome other comments and suggestions, which you can send to the attached email (miha.pavsek@zrc-sazu.si). Above the recent image is the time selector for currently available recordings in sequence - from top to bottom - year and month, and day, hour and minute. Below the image are listed all who contributed and/or enabled us to successfully complete the project. We will try to further upgrade it in a way that it will be interesting and useful also for the wider public, especially in the field of observing climate change and mountaineering prevention.
"Upon launching" the images into the public on the last day of the old year, we use this opportunity for as many good wishes and beautiful moments in the new year 2015!
