Car-free days and road closure in the Logar Valley

14.09.2026
The Municipality of Solčava has also joined the European Mobility Week (EMW) this year. Although we have already carried out some activities to promote sustainable mobility throughout the year, the main part of the events will take place between 16 and 22 September 2026.

Between 16 and 22 September 2026, every day between 10.00 and 15.00 (except on Saturday, 19 September), motor vehicle traffic will be restricted in the area from Dom planincev to the car park below the Rinka waterfall. Visitors will be able to drive to Dom planincev, and from there we invite them to continue on foot or by bicycle.

The highlight of the events will be the Car-Free Day, which will take place on Saturday, 19 September 2026, when the entire Logar Valley will be closed to day visitors between 8.00 and 17.00.

Exceptions apply to locals, employees, guests with a valid reservation, disabled persons and emergency vehicles.

The aim of the activities is to reduce traffic loads in one of the most visited alpine areas in Slovenia and to offer visitors the opportunity to experience the Logar Valley differently – without traffic noise, in closer contact with nature and using sustainable forms of mobility.

We therefore invite visitors to travel to the valley on foot, by bicycle or by bus. The Logar Valley is accessible by regular bus connections from the direction of Celje and Velenje. We recommend that visitors check the timetables before departure, as some lines only go as far as the entrance point to the Logar Valley.

We particularly encourage the use of bicycles. Bicycles and e-bikes can be rented already before entering the Logar Valley. Bicycle rental is also available from providers in the Logar Valley.

On Car-Free Day, 19 September, free e-bike rental will also be organised at the entrance point to the valley, with which we wish to further facilitate a sustainable visit to the valley for visitors.

For easier movement through the valley, free transport will also be organised on Saturday, 19 September, on the Solčava–Rinka waterfall–Solčava route, which will allow visitors access to the most popular starting points and sights without using a private car. Parking will be arranged that day already before the Logar Valley, at the event area in Solčava.

In the area of the Logar Valley Landscape Park, wardens and informants will be present during the activities, who will direct visitors, inform them about the traffic regime and present options for sustainable arrival and movement through the valley. Information about the European Mobility Week activities, public transport, organised transport and bicycle rental options will also be available.

Within the framework of the European Mobility Week, other activities for different generations will also take place, including hikes, workshops for young people and seniors, activities for school and kindergarten, promotion of public passenger transport and encouragement of the use of bicycles and other sustainable forms of mobility.

You are invited to travel to the Logar Valley between 16 and 22 September on foot, by bicycle or by bus and to contribute with us to a friendlier, calmer and more sustainable future of one of the most beautiful Slovenian natural environments.
