Conditions in the mountains

A cold front passed through Slovenia today, bringing locally heavy precipitation. Since most of the rain was south of the alpine region, not much snow fell in the mountains (or none in some places), but due to the cooling, the risk of avalanches increased. The avalanche risk is highest where some old snow remains. These are mainly shady slopes, gullies, and areas with wind-blown snow.
Today during the day, light precipitation will still occur, gradually ceasing. The snow line will be around 1200 m, with up to 5 cm of snow possible, mostly in the Savinja Alps and eastern Karawanks.
On Saturday and Sunday, it will mostly be sunny in the mountains, with occasional more clouds in some places.
