31.10.2008
In the mountain world, especially in the Julian Alps, precipitation has been occurring for several days, more intense in the Soča region. Locally, 300-400 liters of precipitation per square meter fell there. It cooled down only yesterday when the snow line dropped below 1300 m. The most snow, about 30 cm, fell in the high Julian Alps, significantly less elsewhere.
Today in the alpine world it will be cloudy with occasional precipitation. The snow line will gradually rise above 2000 m, tomorrow between 2300 and 2500 m. In the high Julian Alps, up to 20-30 cm more snow can fall by tomorrow afternoon when precipitation will mostly stop, lower down the snow will melt and disappear.
On Sunday in the Julian Alps variable but mostly dry. More sun in the Savinja Alps, eastern Karawanks, and Pohorje.
