Death of a hiker on Vrtača

Today at 9:40 a.m., during the descent from the summit of Vrtača, a foreign hiker, most likely an Austrian citizen, slipped or tripped. Due to the steep terrain, the hiker fell more than 100 m down the slope. Due to severe injuries, the hiker died at the scene.

Slovenian mountain rescuers intervened and, with the help of a Slovenian Army helicopter, transported the body to the valley.
