Discovering the Kamnik-Savinja Alps with “Hop on – Hop off” shuttles.
This summer's novelty is the changed route.
The Kamnik-Savinja Alps stand out for their natural beauty, rich biodiversity, cultural significance, and wide range of recreational activities, making them a popular destination for both locals and visitors from around the world. Due to increasing traffic loads in the summer months, an initiative by several municipalities has established a circular route that will take excursionists to the most popular tourist spots in this wonderful alpine landscape.
Promoting sustainable transport during the tourist season is crucial for protecting the environment, improving quality of life, and ensuring a positive experience for visitors. Introducing sustainable transport solutions such as public transport and circular routes helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions and contributes to cleaner air. These transport practices preserve natural resources and protect the natural habitats of numerous plant and animal species.
During the tourist season, the number of vehicles on roads often increases, leading to traffic jams and frustration among excursionists. Such sustainable transport solutions are often cheaper for individuals and contribute to reducing road and infrastructure maintenance costs. Excursionists accessing destinations via public transport have a more comfortable and pleasant experience. Less stress from driving and parking contributes to a more relaxed and enjoyable visit.
This summer, traveling around the Kamnik-Savinja Alps will be easy and sustainable again. Visitors and locals can use the organized circular transport from June 22 to September 1, operating every day of the week. The novelty this season is a slightly altered route, with the van now also stopping in the Komenda municipality.
Timetable
The van, accommodating up to 8 passengers (more by arrangement), operates two trips daily. In the morning, it departs in one direction; in the afternoon, it returns in the opposite direction. Transport is available every day during the selected period.
Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday: morning first departure towards Luče.
Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday: morning first departure towards Komenda.
Users of sustainable transport can thus adapt their day and excursion to their preferences.
