The Alpine Association of Slovenia, in agreement with the family, announces that 34-year-old top Slovenian alpinist Domen Kastelic from Novo mesto (member of the Academic Alpine Section) died in the mountains above Val Veny in Italy. He had gone there last week together with his Italian climbing partner. As he did not return to the agreed place yesterday, 2. 11. 2016, a search-and-rescue operation was launched. Today in the morning hours, both missing persons were found. Unfortunately, it was too late for both. They died in a snow avalanche.
