Electronic summit logbook - instructions

23.07.2011
The electronic summit logbook has a similar purpose to the classic summit logbook on peaks. The purpose is therefore that when we reach the top of the mountain, we sign into the logbook and thus report our location.

To sign into the electronic summit logbook, visit the website http://www.hribi.net/eknjiga with a mobile phone or other device with a built-in GPS receiver. Log in with the username and password you use on the hribi.net websites. Upon login, your location data (latitude, longitude, altitude, accuracy) will be automatically forwarded, and the system will determine the name of your location, which you then just confirm.
If the system does not determine the name of your location, you can enter the location name manually. This happens when you are not at any of the locations stored in the hribi.net database or when your location data is not accurate enough (e.g., if you do not have the GPS receiver enabled).
It is sensible to check the GPS signal before signing into the logbook.

All entries in the logbook are published on the website http://www.hribi.net/vpisna_knjiga_vrhov. Clicking on the location name displays only entries from the selected location, clicking on the user name displays only the user's entries. Clicking on the latitude/longitude data opens a page showing the location on the map.

Since the forwarded location data can also serve as "proof" that we were really at the mountain top, the logbook can also be used for collecting (electronic) stamps.

You will usually access the website http://www.hribi.net/eknjiga with a mobile phone via mobile operators' networks, so the website for signing into the logbook is designed minimally (without images etc.). Mobile operators usually charge for the amount of data transferred when using the internet. With the most expensive data transfer in Slovenia (0.054€ / 100kB), you will spend approximately 0.02€ for one logbook entry.
If you access the website via foreign mobile operators in the European Union, the usual price is approximately 0.2€ / 100kB. Outside the European Union, prices are much higher.

Best regards, Hribi.net editorial team
