Fatal accident of alpinist Domen Petrovčič

The Alpine Association of Slovenia reports that on Thursday, 23 March 2017, in the afternoon (around 13:00), Slovenian top alpinist and member of the Slovenian Youth Alpinist Team Domen Petrovčič died. He was a member of the Academic Alpinist Section from Ljubljana.
The Alpine Association of Slovenia reports that in the Bavarian Alps in Germany, during descent from Blassenspitze (2420 m), 25-year-old Slovenian top alpinist and member of the Slovenian Youth Alpinist Team Domen Petrovčič from Ljubljana (member of the Academic Alpinist Section) died, who together with other team members participated in the regular event for young promising alpinists.
Domen slipped during descent in the company of two alpinists on easy terrain, tried to stop, but due to the weight of the backpack was unsuccessful and fell into the depths.
The local mountain rescue service intervened, transporting the body of the deceased and both alpinists who were with Domen on the climbing tour to the valley. The Alpine Association of Slovenia is arranging the transport of the deceased to the homeland and the safe return of the other alpinist team members.
