Lucija Tarkuš, Liza Novak, Lina Funa and Lovro Črep also won medals in the combined event. As many as four medals from the European Championship have a golden shine.

The European youth championship has just ended in Perm, Russia. The haul of Slovenian medals is extremely rich. Five members of the Slovenian national team brought home six medals from individual disciplines, four also brought medals from the combined event. This is an excellent achievement for the young climbers. "This year's European Championship was the most successful championship for the Slovenian youth national team. In addition to the medals we brought home, the young climbers showed that they are competitive in both lead and bouldering," briefly summarized the youth national team selector Anže Štremfelj.

Lucija Tarkuš brought home two medals from individual disciplines. She became the youth champion in the lead discipline, third in bouldering.

Liza Novak was second in lead among cadets, and reached the final in bouldering.

Gorazd Jurekovič was second among older boys in lead, reached the final in bouldering.

Zala Mlakar Starič was second among older girls in the lead discipline, Lina Funa second in bouldering in her age category.

At the end of the competition, the organizers added up points from all three competition disciplines - lead, bouldering and speed - and awarded combined medals. Our competitors also won medals here. Liza Novak, Lucija Tarkuš and Lina Funa also became European champions in the combined event in their age categories in Russia, Lovro Črep took second place in the combined event.

Lucija Tarkuš is satisfied with the results. She is especially proud that she managed to win in lead this year, as she had previously been twice third. "I am also satisfied with third place in bouldering, as this is my first medal in this discipline at such competitions. I am not entirely satisfied with my climbing, but fortunately, the results worked out. I am also happy that I managed to win in the combined event."

Liza Novak was also happy with the success. "Above all, it means a lot to me that I was finally able to compete again. A lot of effort and many training sessions were invested, so I was very happy to finally check my level of preparedness. Competitions are always an opportunity for new experiences for me."

"If we achieved good results in lead in previous years, this year progress in bouldering was also shown. I am especially pleased that we won medals and good results in all age categories, which also means among the youngest who have just started competing at the international level. This is good news for the youth and later senior national team," Štremfelj added.

In Russia, this was therefore the second most important competition this year, the World Youth Championship will be from 21 to 31 August in Voronezh, Russia. Next weekend the youth national team is heading to Graz for the European Cup event.
