We will restore the Partisan Hospital Franja – How can you help?

On Thursday, 13 July 2023, and Tuesday, 18 July 2023, the Cerkno area was hit by a severe storm and windthrow, which also severely damaged the Partisan Hospital Franja. The access path is destroyed, and most of the barracks are damaged, three of them completely. We will restore the Partisan Hospital Franja. Many people have inquired about how they could help, so we have prepared two proposals to start with:
1. Visit one of the other museum sites in the Idrija and Cerkno areas.
2. We have opened a sub-account for collecting funds for the restoration of Franja Hospital. Thank you for your donation.
We thank everyone who offered volunteer assistance. However, work in the monument area is dangerous, so it would be irresponsible to involve you. If a need for specific items arises, we will request assistance at that time.
1. The closure of the Partisan Hospital Franja for the Mestni muzej Idrija, among other things, means a significant revenue shortfall that we had planned for in our annual work programme. The quickest way you can help is by visiting one of the other museum sites in the Idrija and Cerkno areas.
We invite you to explore the UNESCO heritage in Idrija. In addition to the exhibitions at Gewerkenegg Castle (daily 10am to 7pm), in July and August you can visit the Idrija Mercury Mine, the museum's Technical Department in the Francis Shaft, and the Idrija Miner's House daily from 12pm to 4pm with a guide! Stop by the reception of the Mestni muzej Idrija at Gewerkenegg Castle. Let the incredible technological achievements and fascinating stories of miners' daily life inspire you!
In Vojsko, we await you at the Partisan Printing House Slovenija, an authentically preserved monument with a still functioning rotary press. Visits are possible daily except Mondays, from 9am to 4pm.
In the Cerkno area, you can visit the Cerkljanski muzej (TUE–FRI: 9:00–15:00, SAT–SUN: 10:00–17:00) with a permanent exhibition on Cerkljanski laufarji and the homestead of writer France Bevk in Zakojca, where our guides await you every Saturday and Sunday from 2pm to 4pm; group visits by arrangement.
2. Everyone who wishes to help can transfer their donations to a special transaction sub-account, where earmarked funds for the restoration of the Partisan Hospital Franja will be collected.
