High avalanche danger

Due to the large amount of new snow, there is a high risk of avalanches especially in the Julian Alps area (4th degree).



Today it will be mostly cloudy and foggy, with occasional further precipitation. The snow line will slowly rise and will be in the afternoon above 1000 m above sea level. A light to moderate southwesterly wind will blow, in the morning and forenoon in the mid-mountains southeasterly. Temperature at 1500 m will be in the afternoon around -2, at 2500 m -6 degrees C.



Tomorrow morning and forenoon it will be partly clear especially in the Julian Alps, elsewhere moderately to mostly cloudy. In the afternoon it will cloud over. Summits will occasionally be in fog. Occasional precipitation will occur, the snow line will be above around 1500 m. A light wind from eastern directions will blow. Temperature at 1500 m around 1, at 2500 m -4 degrees C.
