The highest road in Slovenia is the road to Mangartsko sedlo, with its highest point at 2072 m. 83% of you answered the poll correctly.
The Mangart road is a good 12 km long, has 22 hairpin turns and almost 1000 m of elevation difference. The road was built during the global economic crisis at the end of the 1930s, when this part of Slovenia was still under Italy. Construction lasted two years without interruption, even in winter. The road, which leads through numerous tunnels, is now fully asphalted but closed in winter. At that time, sledding is possible on the lower part of the Mangart road, which has become increasingly popular in recent years.
