Increasing risk of slipping in the mountains
21.02.2009
Due to dry, sunny and windy weather, the risk of slipping is increasing in the mountains. The greatest risk of slipping is on ridges where snow is wind-blown to the old icy base, on sunny slopes where snow softens during the day and refreezes at night, and in lower altitudes where it was wet due to thaw and rain.
The avalanche danger is currently level 2 on the European five-level scale.
