On January 10, 2022, we permanently turned off the semaphore displaying the current avalanche danger level for the area of the Municipality of Tržič and Zelenice, located at Ljubelj. The semaphore operated from 24.1.2013 and was the first of its kind in Slovenia. We changed the danger level every morning from our home office. In 2018, it was upgraded with new electronics and the lights were replaced. In the coming days, we will remove the supporting structure of the semaphore. We will store the electronics and front panels in our home storage.
INFORMATION PORTAL FOR MOUNTAIN VISITORS
Instead of the semaphore, we installed a housing with a television today, placed next to the parking meter at Ljubelj. We named it "Information Portal for Mountain Visitors". The housing is made of INOX sheet metal. Due to low air temperatures, it is insulated and heated. The housing is also secured.
We will add content to the television from our home office, and it will change daily. Primarily, the avalanche danger level will change, displayed graphically for the area of the Municipality of Tržič and also for all of Slovenia and Austria. At the starting point itself, hikers will be able to familiarize themselves with current conditions and dangers. Images from weather cameras in the Zelenice area are also displayed.
In addition to this information, other notices from the Municipality of Tržič and video content from Visit Tržič, Crossrisk, and preventive video inserts from the Police and other services will be shown.
The television will operate every day of the year. At night, the television turns off automatically. Currently, it operates from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The purpose of installing the Information Portal is preventive, as we aim to provide the most accurate information possible about conditions and dangers in the mountains at the starting point. We observe that the number of people in this area is higher every year regardless of the season. This information portal is the first in Slovenia and is intended for everyone, especially those who enjoy going to the mountains.
