Interesting fact, Golovec hill
4.08.2006
The name comes from the bald patches that were characteristic of this hill until around 1890.
At that time, systematic afforestation began under the leadership of the Carniola Agricultural Society and the City Municipality of Ljubljana. There was also a small castle on Golovec, owned by the Wester family, which no longer exists today. In the 18th century, when the plague raged in Ljubljana, a lazaretto was set up on Golovec for those patients. During Roman times, an aqueduct is said to have been led from Golovec to Emona in the 2nd century AD.
