Kranj Climbing Days this weekend in Kranj
20.11.2018
Slovenian sport climbers, who compete around the world with the best climbers and achieve excellent results,
will compete this coming weekend for the last points in the standings of the national championship competitions in
bouldering and the penultimate competition of the season in lead climbing. From Friday, 23.11, to Sunday, 25.11.2018,
the 13th Kranj Climbing Days will take place
in the Zlato polje Sports Hall in Kranj.
In addition to the Sunday bouldering final for men and women, which will also be the national championship final,
enhanced with music and light effects, be sure not to miss the Saturday evening lead climbing final for men and women.
The official competitive part will, as in recent years, take place in two disciplines (lead
and bouldering climbing), in which competitors will compete in five age categories. The hall will
undoubtedly be buzzing with excitement from athletes and their fans from Friday to Sunday. At the Kranj
Climbing Days, joy and laughter mix every year, encouraging cheers and cries of effort. For some, tears of
disappointment flow, others burst with pride, for some it is a time of defeat and for others a time of triumph. To climb
as high and as fast as possible, encourage friends, gain experience, boast about achievements, accept defeat and
forge new acquaintances: all this is part of sport climbing competitions and especially the concluding act
of the national championship.
Like every year, this year's Kranj Climbing Days also bring a varied accompanying program. On Sunday
afternoon, Jure Omejc will take us on a travelogue lecture titled Along the railway from Reteča to
Shanghai through memories of an unusual feat, when he and his son embarked on a journey on the
Trans-Siberian Railway on the last day of school in June.
We should also mention that children can entertain themselves throughout the event in the children's corner with ecological
craft workshops. In addition, the mysterious world of spiders and reptiles will be presented to us by the Bioexo exhibition of exotic animals. On the other side of the hall, we can view in the photo report Wild
Riders of the Prairie and the Lone Cowboy memories of interesting ascents and adventures of a team of four
climbers, including Miha Zupin, the leader of the local AO Kranj, who spent three weeks traveling
through the USA this summer and climbed for 17 of those days.
Plenty of interesting and useful things will surely be found at the stands as well. On Saturday evening,
of course, don't miss the one and only PDK party in KluBar in downtown Kranj with the band San Di
Ego.
Detailed program and fresh news can be viewed on our website http://pdk.aokranj.com
or on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/PlezalniDneviKranja/.
The success of the event largely depends on the voluntary work of AO Kranj members, and of course, events at
such a high level could not be carried out without the support of sponsors and donors, to whom we sincerely thank in advance.
