Landslide below Planina Osredek – warning to hikers

In December 2020 and early January 2021, stronger active signs of sliding earth masses appeared in the area below Planina Osredek. On 23.1.2021, a landslide broke off on the lower plateau, which according to the first estimate contained approximately 4000 m3 of water-saturated soil that deposited in the bed of the Korošak stream.
Based on the documentation of the implementation of urgent maintenance works dated 29.1.2021 (Hidrotehnik), the joint inspection by representatives of owners and ZGS on 23.3.2021, and the joint inspection by the representative of the Municipality of Kamnik, the commander of the Municipal Civil Protection Headquarters, a geomechanics expert, and the competent ZGS worker on 21.5.2021, it was determined that the conditions in the landslide area and the broader area of the "cracked" hinterland of the landslide are significantly deteriorating.

To prevent the slide of unstable earth mass or at least mitigate possible consequences of the slide in the threatened area, ZGS has approved, in agreement with the forest owners, the measure of felling 'heavy' trees in the threatened unstable area.
