Main road to Ljubelj closed to all traffic

Bistrica pri Tržiču – The main road Bistrica pri Tržiču–Ljubelj is closed to all traffic due to landslide risk, according to Kranj police. Consequently, the Ljubelj tunnel is also closed, and for the route to Austria, police recommend using the Karavanke tunnel. There is no detour during the closure. As further explained by the Infrastructure Directorate, remediation of the landslide is underway at the tunnel, which triggered in early December and covered half of the state road carriageway. Therefore, a complete road and Ljubelj border crossing closure will presumably be in place until January 5. Drivers are asked to strictly observe traffic signage. Due to upcoming holidays, police also advise all drivers to drive patiently, maintain appropriate safety distance, and create a rescue lane in case of motorway jams.
