5.08.2013
Yesterday, August 4, 2013, the lead climbing competition at the WORLD GAMES in the Colombian city of Cali concluded with a triumph for Slovenia. Our best sport climbers – Mina Markovič and Domen Škofic – competed; Mina achieved VICTORY and the gold medal. Domen qualified for the final and finished 8th.
After the European Championship in lead climbing, which took place from July 11 to 13, 2013, in French Chamonix where Mina Markovič won the title of European vice-champion, after the first IFSC World Cup 2013 lead climbing event in French Briançon where Mina took the silver medal, and after the youth European Championship in lead climbing where Domen Škofic won the youth European vice-champion title, this weekend in the Colombian city of Cali at the WORLD GAMES – Olympic Games for non-Olympic sports – the lead climbing competition took place. Our best sport climbers also participated: Mina Markovič in the women's category and Domen Škofic in the men's. The 25-year-old Markovič, the best Slovenian sport climber and this year's defender of the double overall World Cup winner title in lead and combined, showed excellent climbing as only she knows how and convincingly swept the entire world competition, deservedly WON and won the GOLD medal.
The 18-year-old Domen Škofic was equally excellent, qualifying for the final of the top eight among the gathered senior world competition and finishing 8th. Domen also achieved the world youth vice-champion title in 2012.
