Missing hiker found dead

Dangerous rescue: Missing hiker found dead, several rescue team members injured during transport.

The hiker, missing since Thursday, was found dead today in the Kamnik-Savinja Alps area.
According to available information, the missing person slipped off the path and sustained such severe injuries that he died on the spot, as reported by the Ljubljana Police Administration (PU Ljubljana). During the transport of the deceased, three rescue team members were injured, one mountain rescuer seriously.

Today's search and rescue operation involved police officers and mountain rescuers moving through steep and hard-to-reach terrain, delivered by helicopter. During the search, a police officer was slightly injured in a terrain slip, as explained by PU Ljubljana.

During the transport of the deceased from steep terrain, a rock was dislodged, seriously injuring a mountain rescuer from the Kamnik Mountain Rescue Service (GRS Kamnik). Then, one of the logs slid down the slope, grazing another rescuer.

The rescuer hit by the rock was treated on site by other team members. The police officer and the other rescuer did not require on-site medical care, PU Ljubljana explained.

Police, in cooperation with GRS, had been searching for the missing hiker, who set out on a hiking tour towards Skuta, in the wider Kamnik-Savinja Alps area since last Thursday afternoon.
