At 18:48, two foreign hikers got lost in the Mangart area in the municipality of Bovec. The female hiker was found unharmed in the evening hours, while a search operation was launched for her companion. After verifying data from the police and GRS Bovec, members of GRS Bovec set out at 22:00 to inspect the area between the Mangart hut and the Italian route. Twelve rescuers from GRS Bovec temporarily suspended the search for the missing person on 1. 7. 2016 at 3:15. The search resumed at 7:30, with the on-duty team of GRS rescuers from Brnik and the SV helicopter crew also activated. The person was found dead below Mangart in the direction of Kotovo sedlo. They transported the body by helicopter to Bovec, where it was handed over to the appropriate services.
