Mountain Named After the President

The Turkmen parliament has named the country's highest mountain after President Saparmurat Niyazov. The 3,173-metre-high mountain is now called Peak of the Great Turkmenbashi.

The President of Turkmenistan, who has led the country since 1985, is also otherwise known for naming many streets, roads and places after himself.
