Mountains claim life of ski tourer

An accident occurred on Mali Mojstrovka, in which an Austrian ski tourer died after sliding 200 meters down the slope.



The 43-year-old ski tourer, an Austrian citizen, was ascending towards Mali Mojstrovka in the morning with a 50-year-old ski tourer, also an Austrian citizen. When they had climbed to the ridge of Mali Mojstrovka with the field name Grebenc, the skier changed direction while walking with touring skis and lost her balance.



She fell on her side and began sliding down the snowy slope, where after approximately 200 meters of sliding she lay injured in the snow.



A Slovenian Army helicopter flew to the scene of the accident, carrying a policeman, a member of the mountain unit and a doctor. After treatment at the scene, the injured skier was transported by helicopter to the hospital in Jesenice, where she died from her injuries.
