Municipality of Bovec obtains funds for via ferrata construction

The Municipality of Bovec has successfully applied with the project Dežela Ferat in doživetij to the call for co-financing investments in public and shared tourist infrastructure and natural attractions in tourist destinations, announced by the Ministry of Economy. The value of the project without value-added tax (VAT) amounts to over 231 thousand euros, while the total value of eligible costs without VAT is over 224 thousand euros. With the successful application, it has thus obtained nearly 180 thousand euros in non-repayable funds (this concerns 80-percent co-financing from targeted funds for the sustainable development of Slovenian tourism). The investment, to be carried out on the Kanin Mountains, includes the arrangement of new via ferratas on Grdi Vršič and Hudi Vršič and the installation of counters to monitor the number of visitors on both new ones and the existing via ferrata Prestreljeniško okno. The plan also includes the arrangement of premises for the entry point to the land of via ferratas and experiences.

The Ministry of Economic Development and Technology, the legal predecessor of the Ministry of Economy, Tourism and Sport, has announced the Public Call for co-financing investments in public and shared tourist infrastructure and natural attractions in tourist destinations. The Municipality of Bovec has successfully applied to the call with the project "Dežela Ferat in doživetij". For the project "Dežela Ferat in doživetij", the ministry has approved funds to the applicant in the amount of up to a maximum of 179,297.61 EUR. The value of the project without VAT amounts to 231,565.44 EUR. The total value of eligible project costs without VAT amounts to 224,122.01 EUR. The amount of co-financing is 179,297.61 EUR, whereby the non-repayable funds in the proportion of 80% are targeted funds from the sources Sustainable Development of Slovenian Tourism-Public Tourist Infrastructure-NOO-MGRT. The ministry will, on the basis of this decision, invite the applicant to sign the co-financing agreement. The investment will be carried out on the Kanin Mountains and involves the construction of a via ferrata on Grdi Vršič, a via ferrata on Hudi Vršič, and the installation of counters to monitor the number of visitors on both new ones and also on the existing via ferrata Prestreljenikovo okno. At station D of the Kanin gondola cable car in the Prestreljenik restaurant or in the Ski Bum bar above D station and in the Dom Petra Skalarja, premises will be arranged for the entry point to the land of via ferratas and experiences. We will report more about the via ferrata construction after the preparation of the PZI.
