Notice for visitors to Kamniška Bistrica: popular hut closed until April.

The lease agreement of Planinsko društvo Matica expired on 1 January 2023, so Dom v Kamniški Bistrici is currently closed to visitors. Meščanska korporacija Kamnik, the owner of the popular hut, will use the closure to carry out necessary investment works for its continued smooth management. The hut is expected to reopen to visitors in April.

Due to last year's fire, a certain part of the hut needs renovation, and at the same time, Meščanska korporacija Kamnik has decided on a comprehensive renovation, as the hut is in rather poor condition, reports the website kamnik.info.

The hut is expected to open in April, and the caretaker for the facility will be sought through public tenders.

Meščanska korporacija Kamnik will issue a public tender for stewardship presumably in early February. Caterers or caretakers will have to comply with the corporation's wishes, as it wants the hut to operate for the benefit of local residents and Kamnik residents, not just tourists attracted by the Kamnik mountains.

Once the corporation selects the most suitable caretaker for the hut, it will seek a mountaineering association for its management. The hut has the status of a mountain hut and can only be leased by a mountaineering association registered with Planinska zveza Slovenije.
